Harpsichordist, organist, and choral artist Loren Carle has brought a fresh perspective to classical music in Salt Lake City since transplanting from Montréal (Canada) in 2015.  He holds a Master’s degree in harpsichord from McGill University (Montréal), and a Bachelor’s in organ from Mount Allision University (NB, Canada). During 2023-24, he pursued masterclasses and lessons with Catalina Vicens (Curator, Tagliavini Collection of Early Keyboard instruments, Bologna), Maria Luisa Baldasari, Augusta Campagne, Fabio Antonio falcone, Ian Pritchard (16th-c. harpsichord music, Tagliavini Collection), Francesco Cera (works by Claudio Merulo on the 15th- and 16th-century organs of Bologna). Loren has received instruction with the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, and multiple international performers both in Montréal and Toronto. Loren also held organist positions in the Anglican College tradition (Christ Church Cathedral, St Matthias, Montréal), has extensive choral experience spanning the history of liturgical and concert repertoire, and is currently active as a chorister and organist at St. Mark’s Cathedral, SLC.

Loren is a founding member of Salt Lake City’s Great Basin Baroque, featuring performances by local and regional period-instrument specialists. As an early-music artist and researcher, he seeks to explore the mysterious worlds of spontaneity and expression hidden in very old sources of Western music, and within the physicality of historical instruments and techniques.
