The Performers
Larry Blackburn teaches piano, music director for over 25 musicals, and accompanies the award winning choirs at American Leadership Academy in Spanish Fork, UT. He has been the organist at First Presbyterian Church, Salt Lake City, for 20 years. Blackburn has a Bachelors in organ from the University of California at Santa Barbara where he studied with Dr. James Welch, and a Masters degree from BYU where he worked with Dr. Don Cook. He has performed with the Utah Symphony and was a Guest Tabernacle Organist on Temple Square for 25 years. He has had the privilege of performing for audiences in Canada, England, Poland, Estonia, Russia, and is seen on International TV from China to South America.
Seth Bott is the Director of Music and Organist at St. James Episcopal Church in Midvale, Utah. In May of 2020, he received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in organ performance at the University of Kansas, where he studied under James Higdon and Michael Bauer. Before attending the University of Kansas, he received his Master of Music and Bachelor of Music degrees in organ performance and pedagogy from Brigham Young University, where he studied with Don Cook and Douglas Bush. Seth is an active recitalist and performs many recitals around the United States every year. Seth is also an active organ instructor and has a large, and ever growing, studio. He loves to share his passion for the organ with others through his performances and teaching.
David Chamberlin holds degrees in organ performance from BYU (Bachelors, 1981, student of Dr. Parley Belnap) and the Eastman School of Music (Masters, 1984, student of David Craighead). Since 1985, he has been employed full time at M. L. Bigelow & Company, Inc., Organ Builders, of American Fork, where he serves as vice-president and tonal director. His responsibilities include mechanical and electrical design, as well as tonal design and finishing. Since 1987, he has been the organist of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Salt Lake City. In addition to playing the organ there, he regularly composes psalm settings for congregational use. In 1995 Zion’s congregation commissioned him to compose a new liturgical setting – “Lord, We Come to Your Table” – which is now in regular use, along with several other liturgies. Mr. Chamberlin has appeared in recital in the United States and Germany, including the Tabernacle on Temple Square, the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, and Freiberg Cathedral (historic Gottfried Silbermann organs).
Christopher Huntzinger serves as Director of Liturgy and Music and Organist for Saint Ambrose Catholic Church and teaches Choir and Liturgical studies at J.E. Cosgriff Memorial Catholic Elementary School. In 2012 he oversaw the installation of the Roper Memorial Pipe Organ constructed by M.L. Bigelow Organ Builders in American Fork. The instrument contains 50 ranks and is the 5th largest pipe organ in the State. Christopher studied organ performance at the University of Utah and lives in Sandy with his beautiful wife Codee and their two children: James and Jordan.
Scott R. Mills is Director of Music and Principal Organist at First United Methodist Church of Salt Lake City since 2009. Scott grew up in Tempe, Arizona where he began piano at age seven and studied with several wonderful teachers. He has taught piano since 1973 and has served as organist and music director for various denominations since 1975. In 1976, he came to Provo, Utah where he attended BYU and studied organ and piano with J.J. Keeler and graduated in Organ and Piano Pedagogy. He has performed recitals and concerts on Temple Square and has served as Dean of the Utah Valley Chapter and Sub-Dean of the Salt Lake Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. He is a member of the American Guild of Organists and earned the Colleague Diploma in 2019. Scott currently teaches private piano in the after-school program at The Madeleine Choir School in Salt Lake City. His recent organ studies are with Bonnie Goodliffe and he currently studies piano with Dr. Del Parkinson of Boise State University.
